The Breakdown

In high school I thought I wanted to be a journalist and joined the school’s newspaper. Spoiler alert: I did not. Especially after learning all I did. Nonetheless, my journalism teacher always drilled one thing into us: “Never use jargon. Only a certain group of people understand that”. I understood the point, but I was always the difficult one pushing back because the news always sounded so boring to me when there was no umph in it. I wanted people to actually care enough to keep reading. With The Breakdown, that exactly how i envisioned this brief. Don’t get me wrong I truly believe the news is important, but people come from all different walks of life and you need to catch as many people’s eyes as possible in the most accurate way possible.
